Welcome to my exploration of hardware hacking.

As you may or may not know, Your not supposed to mess with your magic machines. Its considered taboo. Bad karma. Just Plain Wrong. And lots of people follow this idea with a amazing degree of ignorance. It baffles me to see SO many people treat their electronics like a sacred juju. Its almost scary how they entrust others to fix things they would much rather not understand. For instance, Their is a entire industry catering to those that accidentally delete a file. Rather then tread where only Shamans of Technology go, they offer up their devices to someone with less knowledge then them. Merely because they would rather not give up their bliss of stupidity. Ok, enough ranting. :-p This will be a log of my half assed attempts to hack into my gps. Let me explain a little first. I bought a gps that I believed would be fun to play with as well as useful. I have a terrible problem with direction. I can drive down a block and not have a single clue how to get back home. So, anyways. I tried to find a gps that would be absolute ROCK bottom price for its features. I searched for several weeks, narrowed it down to a few devices. I then went ahead and convinced my girlfriend to help me buy it. It has a mp4 player, someone had wrote a script that allowed you to access the underlying Windows CE 4.2 operating system. Gps Passion is a great resource by the way. They can very helpful and are more then willing to answer any questions provided it isn't a stupid one.  I have no coding experience, thus this will be a multi-year process. I may even give up and forget I ever tried. But I hope this will help those that want to play with their hardware. Perhaps even use it in ways your not supposed to. At least according to the manufacturer. Who I'm sure will be pissed that you have no reason to upgrade to their one off devices that have minimal differences to the one you own. The gps I bought was a rebranded GM-400s, also known as a GPS 300 on a Chinese hardware site. And officially sold as a Invion GPS 4v1 from various sites.  I wish to state at this time, unequivocally, do not buy this device. Its not worth the money you save. Win CE is not a upgradeable operating system. And remember me mentioning how bad I'm at directions? The software is much, MUCH worse. Comsicsoft is the software product. And as far as I am aware, there is limited to no way to use any software aside from it. Now, lets review shall we? We have a device that has no foreseeable uses aside from a paper weight or quite possibly as a experiment to see how aerodynamic it may be. But alas, my mate HAD paid for half of it.

Yes, I "stole" these pictures. And yes I'll delete them if asked.
